Land diversification case study – EV Charging Points

Site area: Stroud Park
Agreement type: Alternative Use
Local Authority: Cherwell District Council

Stroud Park is owned by a long standing farming client of Simon Harris of Howkins & Harrison, who has non-agricultural interests including Stroud Park which lies just off J11 of the M40 at Banbury. Simon started to advise our client nearly twenty years ago on how to develop Stroud Park which at the time was a field adjoining the motorway junction. The land now boasts a Premier Inn hotel, a Miller and Carter carvery, a Costa Coffee drive through and a former Frankie and Benny restaurant which is available to rent.

Around four years ago InstaVolt installed 8 EV charging points which they soon expanded to 16 and are now in the process of adding a further 16 points. Upon completion, this will be one of the largest EV charging stations in the country. Reviews on open forums are extremely complimentary, with one reviewer describing the charging station as probably the best in the country.

A representative of Stroud Park Ltd says: “We are pleased to be able to work with InstaVolt again strengthening our relationship and provide much needed additional facilities.”

“EV charging is clearly a booming sector as the demand for environmentally friendly green vehicles continues to grow,” adds Alastair Frew of Lodders Solicitors, who worked on the deal alongside Simon Harris for Howkins & Harrison.

Alastair Frew of Lodders, solicitors in Stratford upon Avon, acted for our client in the legal matters arising from this development.
